Poem: Square One

 Once I wished

I could've gone back to square one,

Maybe I would've done things differently,

I would've spoken my mind from the start.

I wouldn't have broken to pieces

But would I have learnt to cry?

There'd be no point in disregarding a lesson in time.

We bend, we break, we shatter in the night sky

But it is so valuable to learn how to shine after the dark.

We crumble, we spiral down into the abyss of night

But we also learn to laugh while we cry.

We learn that tears lead to a moment of light,

The recognition that we are beautifully alive.
