Poem: All is Well

‘It’s like that I’ve stopped breathing but completely aware.’
Lady Gaga, Million Reasons

Days on end I’ve felt that I am here
But not fully present,
As if I am somewhere else,
Floating through life, no longer feeling.
Sometimes I’m a shadow of my former self,
Tired heart, tired being
But the shades of grey do eventually fade away
And I can breathe once again.
The birds sing to remind me it’s a new day,
The sun shines and makes me smile.
Eventually, the darkness recedes
And the stars light the previously dark sky.

All is well and for a while
I breathe, I smile, I surrender, I allow.
