Poem: Everything I Never Told You

Inspired by the book Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng

Everything I never told you
Everything I hid away
Everything I masked with smiles
Because I was scared you'd walk away.

The darkness was very present
But you never saw it rage,
I was careful not to worry you
With the sharpness of the knife I held.

I was embarrassed, I was ashamed
That I was weak, that I gave in.
I wish you had truly listened.

Now it's too late.
