Poem: This Life of Hers

As soon as she entered this world,

She innocently walked down the path.

Giggles, big rosy cheeks and curious, brown eyes,

She marvelled at everything

And would make everyone smile.

She could never have imagined

The immeasurable joy or

The heartbreaking pain of all the

Experiences she would navigate

Leading up to her present days.

The range of tears, the range of smiles,

The depth of her pain, the depth of her laugh,

This juxtaposition of light and darkness

All made her who she was:

An intricate product of her unique,

Exquisite path, a soaring-high bird

who would sometimes vanish out of sight.

Retrieving would be easier but never for too long a while,

She could never stay away from her

Beloved circle who saw past

Her weak smile and her aching heart.

Grateful she'd always be for

The unconditional and ever-flowing love,

The undeniably bright light

That would consume her dark.
