What is Home?

 'Home isn't a where, Olive. It's a who.'

Wyatt, The Book of Two Ways

A soul, a person, an everything. Home. A who. Not a place, a house, a country, a continent. Home isn't a where, it is a who. Home is the magical, spiritual, physical connection with someone and the sacred space created as a result of that beautiful interaction. Many people would instantly think about someone in a romantic way -and yes, of course that is natural- but we need to be our own home first.

Belonging to ourselves first and foremost; loving, cherishing, nurturing ourselves is the foundation for balance, harmony and happiness. To fully love others and be able to enjoy a healthy and fulfilling interaction with them, we need to love ourselves first. It can be hard, I know. But once you are willing and committed to embrace yourself fully and do the internal work consistently, you can mirror that acceptance and love towards others, feeling confident and being comfortable in your own skin.

Once you accept yourself in all your glory, you will shine brighter than bright, you will smile to yourself and be grateful for who you are, even your perfect imperfections. Someone will notice the light, someone will see your smile, someone will cherish your heart.

You, him.

Your hand, his hug.

Your smile, his kiss.

A path to walk, a life to build.

Dreams to have, adventures to fulfill.

I have never believed in the notion of someone completing me, I am my own whole. But there comes a point in life when you meet someone, another whole human being with his own experiences, dreams and desires who instantly becomes someone you want to walk next to for  the rest of your life. Someone you feel you may have known from another lifetime, someone with whom you connect immediately in that first date walking along the river Thames on a Sunday afternoon; someone you realise has your same ideals and values, someone who cares as much as you do about all the fundamentals and non-negotiables you hold high (and the things you might disagree on, you talk about.)

One day your world changes because you realise you can experience life with someone who helps you grow and see things from a different perspective, someone you learn from and someone you teach to, someone who makes you smile and laugh out loud, someone who listens and someone who comforts you with the biggest hugs when you are feeling down and you can't breathe, someone who kisses and dries your sad tears and celebrates your happy ones. Someone who shows you how much he loves you which actions that speak much louder than words ever could. Someone who may not have the words sometimes but who goes above and beyond to let you know that he cares, he loves you, he wants you to be happy, always.

Someone who respects your space, your times, your moods; someone you crave to enjoy many experiences with and continue to navigate life with in all the glorious ups and all the challenging downs because you feel and know deep inside that, whatever happens, his hug at the end of the day is and will always be what you need to feel that life is good and it is all worth fighting for. Someone you love unconditionally. Someone who makes you feel safe. Someone who is your home.

Someone who beautifully and effortlessly makes you see that life is worth sharing when one day the right person shows up at your heart's door.

One day. His kind eyes.

One smile. His loving heart.

Someone who literally sweeps you off your feet and twirls you around, making you smile you biggest smile and who will make you fall in love, time after time for breaths to come.

It all begins at home.

Your home, your soul, your heart.

One home, two hearts, North, South. Our life.
